The streaming service will most likely be launched this September or at the latest this fall in selected territories in the EU, USA and Asia.
The company already offers a free streaming service (Prime Music) with a very limited catalogue to its Prime shipping and video service subscribers, but the launch of this new subscription service will put Amazon in direct competition with rival streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.
Amazon will offer stand-alone subscriptions to the streaming service for $9,99 USD/ 9,99 EUR per month. A half priced version of the subscription service is offered packaged with Amazon’s popular wireless speaker device Echo and offers access to the same catalogue and functionality, but only through Amazon’s Echo speakers.
The Digital 1 Platform and our Digital 1 Aggregation Service are already set up to deliver catalogue to Amazon’s streaming service. Any catalogue delivered to Amazon for which the streaming rights have NOT been excluded in the Usage Rights tab will automatically become available on the streaming service at launch. We will notify you as soon as we have more news about the launch of Amazon’s subscription streaming service.
